Gene targeting strategy for B-hCD163 mice.
The exons 1-14 of mouse Cd163 gene that encode the extracellular domain and transmembrane domain were replaced by human CD163 exons 1-14 in B-hCD163 mice.
Strain specific CD163 expression analysis in homozygous B-hCD163 mice by flow cytometry. PEMs were collected from wild-type C57BL/6 mice (+/+) and homozygous B-hCD163 mice (H/H), and analyzed by flow cytometry with species-specific anti-CD163 antibody. Mouse CD163 was detectable in wild-type mice. Human CD163 was exclusively detectable in homozygous B-hCD163 but not in wild-type mice.
