• GFRAL is a GPI-anchored protein highly expressed in the hindbrain (area postrema and nucleus tractus solitarius) but rarely in peripheral tissues. It binds GDF15, recruits the RET kinase, and activates signaling pathways that lead to reduced appetite, weight loss, and metabolic changes. This makes the GDF15–GFRAL axis a promising target for anti-obesity drugs.
• Gene editing strategy: The exons 2-9 of mouse Gfral gene that encode the whole molecule, including 3’UTR were knockout in B-Gfral KO mice. Mouse Gfral gene transcription and translation will be disrupted.
• Mouse Gfral mRNA was exclusively detectable in C57BL/6JNifdc but not in B-Gfral KO mice.
• Application: This product is used for mechanistic research on metabolic diseases such as obesity associated with the GDF15-GFRAL pathway.

Strain-specific analysis of Gfral mRNA expression in wild-type C57BL/6JNifdc and B-Gfral KO mice by RT-PCR. Cerebral cortex RNA were isolated from wild-type C57BL/6JNifdc (+/+) and homozygous B-Gfral KO mice (-/-), then cDNA libraries were synthesized by reverse transcription, followed by PCR with mouse Gfral primers. Mouse Gfral mRNA was exclusively detectable in C57BL/6JNifdc but not in B-Gfral KO mice.
